Group Counseling is a supportive and extremely effective means of counseling. With the direction of the therapist, members of a group work together and help one another through the process of self-discovery and healing.
Group Counseling can be an important tool during therapy because it provides a social context for personal issues and the group offers support during challenging times. Some clients choose to go to support groups or self-help groups, but Group therapy is different than a support group like alcoholics anonymous because it is facilitated by a trained therapist. Groups can be "closed" where the group meets for just a few sessions or "open" groups, which meet numerous times until the group agrees to close. Groups can be beneficial for almost everyone.
Key Benefits of Group Counseling
Austin has many options for group counseling. Groups can be a highly beneficial and cost effective mode of treatment for some.
